How are you??? Hope so would doing well.
You seem to be disturbed from some problem. I guess yours answer would from one of my these questions. Is it getting hard to focus on your goals??? Do you get distracted at times??? You are not able to follow up your most important work. Begin to do something productive but ended up wasting your time......
And, have a very common question of,
How To Stay Motivated???
If you answered Yes to any of these questions, you are at very right place. And It will be my pleasure to help you. But if your all the answers were No, then I will recommend you not to waste time here, go do your most important work. I am saying this just to help you, rest is your choice, but if you said Yes even once, then you must read it.
See, I'll be very clear to my words, neither I will stretch the things up, too much because I know you don't have Time to waste, because the one who want to waste up his time, will never-ever end up reading this self-improvement article. You should be happy to know that still only 20% people of the world are trying to improve themselves personally and you are from one of those 20% great people.
To know what's makes us getting distracted??? We must know what actually is Distraction ??? Because same thing for you may be distraction but to somebody else that may be a profession.
When we say distraction from that we mean that anything that is not letting us to do our most important work, that we want to do for sure, but don't feel like to do it...... Your brain says you should do that work but your hearts counters it by saying that no it's better to relax.
Okay so let's see,
The ways through which you can keep your self motivated....
1. Chunking
Did you heard this word for the first time??? Surely not......but.....Its not commonly used in daily speaking habits.
By chunking we mean, ' breaking it up' this was the method developed to learn the things faster and for longer period of time.
Eg. Many of us have very inactive memory, that we use to forget things up very fastly so for us to remember a 10 - 12 digit number is not a easy task.
Let's take the number — 598657897987 ,memorizing this 12 digit number isn't easy for everyone. Therefore this number when written in the chunked form -— 598-657-897-987 it looks a lot easier. Thus, it's better to d things in parts.
Tip : This same method we can use, for doing our works, that is too much in quantity. We can break up our work in parts and then give each part of work a fixed amount of time based on it's how much time it need for its completion.
Reason for getting demotivated:
Like, this when every part of the works gets completed we feel better, and remain motivated to do the other parts. But when we do the whole work at once, even after working long hours when it does not get completed we start to feel demotivated.
Why this succeeds over demotivation???
See, when we have too much work to do. We start to procrastinate the things, like when we have to complete a work that needs 12 -13 hours of working, in that case our brain says it to us to do that work later. And then same thing again when the next time you get to do that work. Like this bundle of work keep on increasing. But when that's in pices, our sense of self-efficacy, the belief that we can successfully accomplish a goal increase.
2. Visualizing Things
Obviously you will get happy just by thinking over it. So same thing works over here also.
Tip: When you are going to do some work before starting it, just think over its befinits when that gets completed. Like, if you have a long 30-35 page project to completed then think of when you will show your work to your boss, by seeing your great work he will get happy and will even get you promotion. You will move likely feel to do that work.
Reason why you get demotivated???
When we have some long term work. We start finding the ways of when and how will do that work. So, at first the work is very tiring, and at second when you have long time like a week to complete that thing, you will feel like to do it later,and later and later. At last you will approach the last day, and you will find that you have done nothing.
Why this method works???
Its simple why this method works?? When we know the befinits of it, we get happy and in that condition our excitement to do that work increases, and in that we remove procrastination and we are able to finish our work.
3. List your reasons
Tip: List up the reasons of why you need to do this particular work. What bad will happen if it's not completed. What good will happen if gets completed??? And highlight one most important reason of why this work has to be completed.
Reason for getting demotivated:
When we see others doing fun or entertaining themselves. We also feel like to do those things. Now our mind gets focused on those things, and we lose our concentration on our, and the quality of work decreases if you keep on forcing yourself to do the work. Or, simply you stoo doing that work.
Why it works in staying motivated ???
When you have clear reasons of why that work has to be completed. So, while your mind is saying you to go for entertainment or doing fun, at that time read these points two theee times. When ever you read , this creates an image in the brain of you that completion of work is more important than fun. And you stay motivated to do that work.
4.Reward yourself
You know what our mind works in a very surprising way, it always get happy when it receives something for its hard work. When we get praise for our work, or by seeing our work people get happy, then we too use to get happy.
Tip:No matter your reward is big or not. Reward is reward, for every work you do put a reward on it and when your specified work is done give it to yourself. Or, it will be even effective if you ask somebody to whom you love and respect to give you that gift. May be he is your elder brother, or your mom or your sister, any body can be there.
Reason why you get demotivated???
When you work hard for long period of time even though if your work is not given attention, then our starts to poke in us that these people don't recognize the work of mines then why should i work?? many such negative thoughts come in our mind, at last the only effect they do on our mind is that they get us motivated.
Why it works???
When our brain is happy it releases a type of chemical in our mid brain, and that chemical produces a boost in our want and our motivation. You would have noticed that when somebody is being awarded or rewarded for his work, in front of us we also start to think how good it would be if i too get the award. At times you would have felt it for sure, isn't??
5.Make your Goal Public
Tip : You started to do a new work, or got in the new job, and you know nothing about it. Its not a very hard to learn that thing if you are motivated to do that work. And since every time rewarding ourself, or chunking or visualization might also not help. then in that case make your goal public. Tell your all family member,your friends and all, about the work you are going to do. For yourself also repeat that work for 5-6 times. Why it works:
See, when we tell our goals to others we start to have fear of what people will say if my that work will not be completed, how they will think about. Since, We opt or wish to give good content.
